Maple Tree in Portland, Oregon

I noticed some beautiful large maple logs on the curb which might make great candidates for growing mushrooms. I think it’s as simple as drilling holes in the log and then putting in the mushroom plugs and then … waiting :)

Here is a place that sells mushroom growing kits — One Green World! https://onegreenworld.com/product-category/mushroom-growing-kits/

I’ve also been suggesting to local arborists that they might leave logs behind for homeowners and renters who’d like to inoculate them with mushrooms for food. The really large piece of maple above also looks like it might make a great wood sculpture candidate.

PS — if you have more to add on this topic, please do in the comments section. PPS — there’s a group of us in a FB group that’s working to keep trees standing and plant new ones. Come join us!
